The 8th Grade awards ceremony will be held at Hanover High School on May 17, at 9:15 a.m. We'd like to communicate specific details about the event so you can plan accordingly. We also ask for your patience since this is the first year the ceremony will be held at an alternate location.

8th Grade Ceremony Parking
Parking will be available for Oak Knoll families in the side parking lot in front of the football field. Additional parking will also be available at Oak Knoll. Carpooling is encouraged, if possible. Patrons may not park in the bus loop.

Important Arrival Procedures
We will begin welcoming families at 8:30 a.m. Guests will enter through Hanover High School's main entrance and will use the double doors on the far right. As a safety protocol, all adults are required to "sign-in" through Raptor. Therefore, you must bring a driver's license or photo id to be admitted. There will be several staff members inside assisting with this process; however, we strongly suggest families plan on arriving as early as possible, but not before 8:30 a.m.

The graduation ceremony will be held in the Hanover High auditorium. The procession will begin at 9:15 a.m. sharp. Every 8th grade student will be recognized on stage by team, similar to a high school graduation. Specialty awards will also be presented: The Golden Knight Award, DAR Youth Citizenship Award, Alpha Delta Kappa Award, and the Thad Morgan Memorial Scholarship Award. Following the ceremony, students and teachers will proceed out of the auditorium and back to Oak Knoll to prepare for the Top Golf field trip. If you wish to take photos after the ceremony you may do so in the bus loop on the Oak Knoll side. We encourage you to communicate your plan with your child in advance, as we will begin boarding buses promptly at 10:45 a.m. and departing at 11:00 a.m.

The 8th Grade Dance
We look forward to seeing students in their business casual or semi-formal dress attire for our Black Glow Light Dance from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Let's not forget this is a school-sponsored event so the dress code still applies. We will have a DJ, light refreshments, and a photo booth to capture the memories. Only 8th grade students who attend Oak Knoll Middle School may attend this event and it's completely free (even the photo booth) courtesy of our PTA. Again, we thank you in advance for your patience and support as we navigate this year's awards ceremony.
